Before league registration opens we wanted to provide you all with a bit of information about the leagues and a few small league updates before registration opens.

If you are planning to curl and have not yet registered as a member, you will need to do that first! Instructions on registration are below (copied from my last email).

Main take aways
  • Membership must be paid for team members to be added.
  • League registration is on a first come first serve basis.
  • First draw at 5:30pm, second draw at 7:40pm each night
Changes
  • League sign ups are first come, first serve.
  • Start times
    • First league games of the night will start at 5:30pm rather than varying between 5:30 to 6pm.
    • The second round of games will start at 7:40pm allowing for a small buffer period. If your assigned sheet is available and your competition is amenable you may begin as soon as the 5:30pm game ends
  • Team Limits
    • Below with the league descriptions, you will find the number of teams that will be able to sign up for each league.
    • During league sign-ups you will be able to see how many teams have signed up per league. example: 8/13 teams.
Leagues
  • Monday Competitive Doubles (5:30pm start, 13 teams)
  • Monday Fun League (7:40pm start, 14 teams)
  • Tuesday Competitive League (5:30pm start, 13 teams)
  • Tuesday Fun League (7:40pm start, 6-7 teams)
  • Wednesday Dinner League (5:30pm start, 13 teams)
  • Wednesday Doubles (7:40pm start, 13 teams)
  • Thursday Big Fun League (5:30 & 7:40pm alternating start times, 28 teams divided into two groups: Grippers and Sliders)
  • Friday Open League (5:30pm, 13 teams)
  • Friday Open League (7:40pm, 10 teams)
      • Reduced number of teams due to reserving at least one sheet for learn-to-curls during the late draw on Friday nights
How to register a team

Skips will be the ones that register teams (whoever registers is whose name will be listed as the skip).

League Sign-ups and Membership registration process
  • Log-on to FCC Player Portal on the FCC Website.
  • Select Registration either on the top bar or on the side bar.
  • Here you can:
    • One change to club fees occurred this year: Youth and Juniors (i.e., all curlers 21 and under) will now both be charged the same fee called Youth.
    • Register or renew your membership
    • Register a team for a league (when league registration is open - Sept 14-25)
    • Put your name out there to find a team with "I Want to Find a Team"
    • Look at the club fees
Register a team for a league
  • Leagues will be listed in a chronological order through the week.
    • Select the league that you are interested in signing up for with the blue "Select" button.
  • Your name will be listed under "Selected roster" as will a fraction for the number of team members needed.
  • Below the "register team" button type in your team members' names. If they have an account their name should appear (sometimes just use their first or last, fullnames don't always work).
    • People will be listed as either:
      • Eligible - Membership paid (green)
      • Ineligible - Membership unpaid/elapsed (grey)
      • Ineligible - already signed up for this league
    • You can only select Eligible players. If your teammates have not paid their Membership you will not be able to select them
      • Added team members will be added to your roster under your name.
    • Teams must have at least three members to sign-up a team (two members for doubles).
      • If you have a fourth that has not yet paid their membership, you can sign-up and indicate that you have a fourth coming by saying you are not looking for more players, but will be continuing with this roster.
      • If your team does not have a fourth team member by the time league starts, league managers will work with you to fill your team
    • If you have a team of two or three and are looking for one or two more to join your team:
      • You will need to make sure no name is listed in the "Search Users (name or email)" field.
      • Under "Are you looking for more players?", select Yes.
        • You will then find a list of curlers who have currently put their name into the “looking for a group” section.
          • It will indicate their name, contact info, if they are experienced or new, and their preferred position.
          • It will also say which leagues they are interested in playing in. Only people who have requested to be in the league you are filling will show up.
        • If a group of two have put their names into “the looking for a group” section they will show up as one card of two people.
        • Membership will be listed as either Paid or Unpaid.
          • Paid members can be added right away to your team. Please reach out to them to let them know you have added them to a team.
          • Unpaid members should be contacted to let them know you would like them to be on your team. Once they have paid they should let you know, and at that point they can be added.
 Sub Fees
  • Non-member subs pay $20 per game to play. Skips are responsible to ensure that non-member subs pay the fee at the bar and sign a waiver before the game begins. If assistance is needed please contact your league manager or a Board of Director.
  • We all know that subs are a crucial part of curling, both in that sometimes people are not able to make it to a game and subs can fill in, but also to bring new curlers into the fold. We love having subs at the club.
  • Then why do subs have to pay? Non-club member subs also take more work, using club equipment, bringing in more dirt, and slowing down the pace of the game if they are new.

If you need assistance, have any questions or concerns about these changes, please contact either the Board of Directors (board@curlfairbanks.org) or the Registration Team (registration@curlfairbanks.org).

############ Email from Sept 1 about Registration ####################

Curling season is just around the bend, and we cannot wait to get on the ice with all of you.

The moment you have all been waitng for is opening today, Fall 2026 Draw Membership Registration

You can log on now to see some of the changes and updates that we have worked on through the summer and have more to come.

The biggest change as was mentioned in the latest newsletter is that the format for registration has changed to a Pay to Play format.

This means that registration will occur in two rounds.

  1. Membership registration (Opens Sept 1, TODAY)

    • Everyone signs up or renews their individual membership, thus making themselves available to be added to a team in the next step.

  2. League registration (Opens Sept 14; Closes Sept 25)

    • Teams can register at this point. Team Skips can select from registered members to form a team.

Leagues which have additional fees (competitive leagues, dinner league, lockers, etc.) will be invoiced for those fees after league registration has closed.

Membership registration process

  • Log-on to FCC Player Portal on the FCC Website.

  • Select Registration either on the top bar or on the side bar.

  • Here you can:

    • Register or renew your membership

    • Register a team for a league (when league registration is open - Sept 14-25)

    • Put your name out there to find a team with “I Want to Find a Team”

    • Look at the club fees

      • One change to club fees occurred this year: Youth and Juniors (i.e., all curlers 21 and under) will now both be charged the same fee called Youth.

  • Membership registration

    • Select either Full Membership or Social Membership.

      • Note: Social members do not have ice access and do not have a vote at the annual member meeting.

    • If you have any children on your account, you can select yourself or a child here before moving on.

      • At this time, we cannot bundle children and parents together for invoicing, so you will need to go through the registration process for yourself and each child.

    • You will then need to enter your age; the system will determine whether you are a Youth curler (we do check who is listed as Youth, so please do not try to game the system).

    • If you are a First or Second Year Curler, it will state that at the top of the page as well. Otherwise, it will list you as an Experienced Curler, meaning you will pay the Standard Adult Member fee.

    • Next up is to sign the Liability Waiver. This must be done before an invoice will be generated.

    • Check that your Invoice Preview looks correct, and the appropriate membership and/or discount has been applied. If it is not correct, please email registration@curlfairbanks.org and we will help get you situated.

    • Click Continue to Payment and enter your credit card information.

    • That is it! You are now registered for the Fairbanks Curling Club 2026 Fall Draw.

  • Changes to League Registration

    • While League registration is not yet open (opens on Sept 14), this is the perfect time to reach out to folks to inquire whether they want to play as a team. If a previous team is no longer playing together or for any other reason you are looking for a team (you’re a new curler or joining a new league), we have the tool for you! We have improved how “Looking for a Team” functions.

      • Use the “I Want to Find a Team” option to put your name on a list of curlers looking for a team, you can select which night you are hoping to play on. Or you can say “any night!”

      • If you are a group of 2 you can put down your name as well as another person with an FCC player portal account.

        • Sometimes there is another group of two who are looking, so this is a good way to find another pair looking to team up.

      • You do not have to be a paid member to put your name into the pool of names. However, you cannot be selected to go onto a team until you are a paid member.

        • If you have not paid yet because you are not sure whether you will be on a team, Skips can email/call you to see if you want to play. You can then pay your membership at that time, after which they will be able to add you to their team.

        • If you have paid but do not end up on a team, the League Managers will work to try and fit you onto a team. If in the rare case we cannot get you on a team, we will work with you to reimburse your membership fee if you are not in any other leagues.

  • Changes to Youth registration
    • All curlers aged 5-21 are considered Youth and may participate in the Youth Curling Program.

      • Note: The Youth Curling Program’s page is currently being updated to reflect these changes.

    • Youth accounts can be set up for anyone considered a Youth curler (ages 5-21). There are two types of Youth Accounts:

      • An account in which the Youth can login directly with an email address.

      • An account without direct login access.

    • Both types of accounts allow for the parent or guardian to see the Youth Curler’s invoices and teams. To set up either type of account:

      • Go to your user profile on the FCC player portal (click your name below the social media images on the left side bar).

      • Navigate to the tab that says “Children”.

        • If your child already has an account,  please contact us at registration@curlfairbanks.org and we can add your child’s account to your profile

        • If they do not already have an account, select “add new child”. Fill out the form. Your child does not need an email address to have an account.

      • Once the children are listed under your account you will be able to see their names during the registration process as mentioned above as well as any invoices associated with your child.

We will be assisting folks with registration during our Membership Social and Open House on September 19th.

If you need assistance, have any questions or concerns about these changes, please contact either the Board of Directors (board@curlfairbanks.org) or the Registration Team (registration@curlfairbanks.org).
